In the fast-paced world of food distribution, maintaining impeccable hygiene standards is essential. A major national food distributor approached Zenith to improve the cleanliness and durability of their cleanroom environments. The solution needed to be robust, hygienic, and easy to maintain – without causing disruption to ongoing operations.
Overview of Works
Zenith recommended a 6mm polyurethane screed, complemented by a radius coved skirting detail to ensure a hygienic and easily cleanable transition between floor and wall surfaces. This system is ideally suited for food-grade environments due to its seamless finish, chemical resistance, and durability under heavy use.
To minimise downtime, all works were carefully scheduled and carried out over three consecutive weekends. The process included:
Diamond Grinding Preparation: Performed under vacuum to minimise airborne dust and contamination.
Floor Installation: Pumadur RT polyurethane screed was applied to 139 m², providing a smooth, chemical-resistant finish.
Coving Installation: 88 linear metres of 100mm high Pumadur cove grade were installed, ensuring easy cleaning and compliance with hygiene standards.
Project Outcome
The completed floor delivered a seamless, easy-to-clean surface that prevents bacterial growth and ensures compliance with stringent food safety regulations. The fast-curing properties of the product allowed the client to resume operations swiftly, with minimal disruption.
