Zenith team support food bank appeal

Christmas 2014 saw a team from Zenith supporting the Bedworth & Keresley Life Church food bank appeal.

The Food Bank aimed to support people in need within the local community by providing an emergency food parcel containing enough food to sustain them for three days.

The food bank was organised by Bedworth’s Life Church, with the aide of local churches throughout the area, and involved collecting non-perishable food items, such as teabags, rice, pasta, tinned goods, biscuits and cereals, to make up three-day food parcels for local people in need over the Christmas period.

The food bank model followed was pioneered by The Trussel Trust, a charity well experienced in setting up and running successful food banks and initially featured two distribution centres at St Thomas’ Church in Keresley and The Salvation Army in Bedworth town centre, with more churches coming on board during
the week.

Zenith’s team was led by Donna Moore (not pictured) and included Sarah Brown (Accounts), Iain Clements (Operations Supervisor), Carole Allsopp (Receptionist), Jack Sant and Nikki Preston (Admin). All involved donated their time to garner support for the appeal, collecting a wide range of non-perishable goods from Zenith staff, suppliers and clients, which were then delivered to the Bedworth & Keresley food bank.

Unlike the Life Church’s previous Christmas Hamper appeal, the food bank will run across town all year round, providing a constant supply of food for those in need. The idea is to encourage people to adopt the habit of buying a little extra food whenever they shop, which can then be donated to the food bank.

For further information about the appeal please click here. Any donations of food can be taken to The Christian Centre, Bulkington Road, Bedworth CV12 9DG during office hours (8.30 – 16.30).
