Security Hut Refurbishment for Distribution Centre

Client Requirements

The Security Hut refurbishment at Parker Hannifin Regional Distribution Centre involved internal improvements and external maintenance to refresh the facility’s appearance, cleanliness and functionality.

The works included internal strip-out, plastering and making good, redecoration, new non-slip vinyl flooring and replacement of two doors. External works comprised tiled roof and canopy cleaning, guttering replacement and repainting of designated surfaces.

The existing toilet facilities and air conditioning unit were retained.

Overview of Works

The existing Security Hut required improvements to its internal finishes and external appearance. Internally, outdated fixtures, wall tiles and flooring required removal before repairs and redecoration could take place.

Externally, the tiled roof and polycarbonate canopy required cleaning to remove organic growth and accumulated dirt. The existing guttering also required replacement, alongside the redecoration of designated external surfaces.

Internal Refurbishment

The internal works included:

• Strip-Out: Removal and disposal of the existing desk, kitchen units, sink, wall tiles and vinyl flooring.
• Plastering and Making Good: Repairing damaged wall surfaces and preparing them for decoration following tile removal.
• Ceiling Decoration: Preparing the existing ceilings and applying two coats of white emulsion.
• Wall Decoration: Applying two coats of Johnstone’s Acrylic Durable Eggshell in Broom Yellow.
• Woodwork Decoration: Applying one coat of undercoat and one coat of gloss paint to existing woodwork.
• New Flooring: Preparing the floor substrate, applying
  self-levelling compound where required and installing Polysafe Standard PUR non-slip vinyl flooring in Nordic Grey.
• Door Replacement: Installing two new white paint-grade door leaves, including associated ironmongery. The WC door also included a lock and toilet identification sign.
• Finishing Details: Preparing and painting the existing boxing-in adjacent to the entrance door.

The completed works provided refreshed internal finishes and a cleaner, more practical environment while retaining

External Refurbishment

The external works improved the appearance and condition of the Security Hut and its connecting canopy.

• Tiled Roof Cleaning: Removing moss, algae, lichen and debris, followed by soft-wash and biocide treatment Roof valleys, hips, ridge lines and perimeter guttering were also cleared as specified.
• Canopy Cleaning: Cleaning the white polycarbonate link canopy and glazing bars to remove algae staining, dirt and debris.
• Guttering Replacement: Removing the existing guttering and installing new black uPVC square-profile guttering.
• External Painting: Preparing and repainting the designated windows, doors, fascia boards, soffits and internal and external surfaces of the side canopy using Rust-Oleum CombiColor Metal Paint in Black.

These works refreshed the building’s external appearance and renewed the specified surfaces and rainwater goods
